南アフリカ株式、ランド（南アの通貨）が鉱業生産に伴い下落

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Mining shares dragged on the South African stock market, while the rand fell against the dollar on Thursday, after the government reported a drop in the country's mining production in the first quarter.

ニューヨーク ― 鉱業関連株がアフリカ株式市場で引きずっている。また、木曜日からランドもドルに対して下落している。政府が第1四半期の国内鉱業生産が減少したと発表した後のことだ。

In Johannesburg, the All Share Index, which is heavily composed of mining stocks, fell 106 points, or 0.5%, to 21,396.

ヨハネスブルグでは、全ての株価指数（そのうち鉱業株が大きな割合を占めている）が下落しており、106ポイント、0.5％下落して、21,396となった。

South Africa is the world's largest producer of platinum, gold and chromium.

南アフリカは、プラチナ、金、クロムの世界最大の産出国である。

"Clearly mining is a very important sector for South Africa," said Nick Chamie, head of Emerging Markets research at RBC Capital Markets.

RBCキャピタルマーケットの新興市場調査部長 ニック・カミーは「南アフリカにとって、鉱業は明らかに重要セクターだ」と語る。

Total mining production slumped by 12.8% in the first quarter from the previous quarter, Statistics SA said on its website. Weighing the most on overall production were drops in platinum and diamond production.

前年第1四半期に比べ、鉱業生産は12.8％落ち込んだと南ア統計がウェブで公表された。全生産の中で特に重しとなっているのは、プラチナとダイヤモンドの生産だった。
